It was just after 3:00 in the afternoon when the bat phone rang. On the other end was a young woman who claimed she was chased around her home by an unseen entity. She also informed me that this was not the first paranormal event she had experienced since moving in. Learning that she was only 15 minutes away, I told her I would be right over to conduct the investigation.
Upon arriving at the client's residence, I noted that she was visibly shaken and distressed. She was sitting outside and refused to re-enter the house until I was able to check it out it. I quickly assured her that the situation was under control, and asked her to take me inside to point out areas where she had noticed activity in the past.
The first that I noticed about her home is that it was undergoing renovations. Of course, home remodeling appears to be a pretty innocuous activity on the surface - and perhaps this is true, for the living - but spirits are attached to the location, for whatever reason, typically despise change and activity may flare up when it occurs. This is equivocal to someone coming in your home and tearing out the walls; you'd have something to say about that, right?
So she showed me around the property, then explained how she heard voices at night and footsteps from the attic. I thanked her for the tour, and went ahead and set up some equipment. I placed several digital recorders around the house, and set up the DV Camera in the hallway that she said the entity chased her down. In addition to the camera in the hallway, I placed a K2 EMF meter in view of the camera to reveal any possible spirit activity. I also took a tape recorder and EMF meter with me.
I proceeded to take baseline EMF readings from the house. They were 9.2+ in over 70% of the house. This immediately struck me as odd, and stood out as a possible cause for the "feeling on her neck" she got from the "ghost" chasing her.
It was then time to examine the disembodied voices she heard while sleeping, so I headed for the master bedroom. I did an EVP session. Afterwards, I went up in the attic to find the cause of the footsteps. Sure enough, there was a window that was slightly cracked open with an older rocking chair 10-12 ft. in front of it. I actually witnessed a few strong gusts cause the chair to move forcefully enough to create "footstep" like sounds on the attic floor - which just so happened to be above her bed.
I went home, analyzed the evidence and didn't find anything out of the ordinary.
The next day, I revisted her home presented her the findings. At first she was skeptical, but after reviewing the evidence with her, she appeared pretty content with the findings. I asked her to call me back if it started up again - which she did call several weeks later, but only to report that her activity had ceased.
